The Lydia Gown
The Lydia Gown
This 1950’s lace gown was found while antique shopping in Northern California. It’s delicate lace pattern, cap sleeves, full skirt and multitude of covered buttons down the back makes it the quintessential 1950s gown. After purchase, a seamstress specializing in vintage clothing restored the gown to preserve the authenticity of the design. She removed a section of torn lace fabric from the hem, but salvaged the design, returning the original lace to a revised lower skirt area.
At 1907 Bridal, we painstakingly restore all of our genuine antique items as closely as possible to original condition, while still honoring the historic nature of the piece. We’ve taken the work out of vintage for you by repairing the material, renovating the craftsmanship and providing you a piece as good as new, but with a genuine vintage history. On our products, stains, tears, cracks and other wear-and-tear common in vintage pieces have been fixed or minimized by professional tradesmen specializing in vintage, historic and antique restoration. However, certain “patina” is left when it lends to the character and design of the piece, or when removing it will compromise the integrity of the item.
